Glenn's most popular presentations are:
1. Nutritional Superannuation - adding more birthdays to your life
How to sift the nutrition facts from the fraud ... and live a lot longer.
Are you confused about nutrition and health? You are not alone. The information you will get from this presentation will save you money and enhance your eating pleasure. There are forces in action that misinform you and distract you from the real nutrition issues. Glenn Cardwell will help you to filter the facts from the fads in a fun fashion. You will see why the health charlatans don't like him being around!
The average person will die before their time. We now have the potential to add another 5-10 years to your life and really enjoy your superannuation rather than distributing it all in your will.
You will learn how :
- Chocolate and wine are good for you and vegetables aren't (unbelievable, but true).
- To choose the superfoods that will enhance your health.
- To determine which nutrition issues can improve your health and which issues are merely distractions.
- To reduce your risk of heart disease and cancer by half and live a longer life.
2. It's not what you eat, it is how you eat
Is this food good for me or bad for me? Well, the question is probably irrelevant as how you eat has a much bigger impact the number of kilojoules you eat. In fact, you don't even know how much you eat, with most people forgetting about one third of everything that goes in their mouth.
This talk will show you:
- How to take better control of your eating
- How to avoid the traps that get you to eat too much
- How to eat to control body fat stores and keep fit
- How to have your favourite food on a regular basis
- How much exercise you really need to do to keep healthy
3. Eating to improve sports performance
If you are trying to get the very best out of your training then you will need to fuel your body correctly. From his experience with elite athletes and teams, and writing books and fact sheets on sports nutrition, Glenn has developed nutrition strategies that help get the best out of your body.
In this talk you will learn:.
- How much protein and carbohydrate your body needs for training, fitness and muscle development.
- How to avoid dehydration using a simple strategy that almost no-one uses (dehydration is one of the main causes of poor sports performance).
- About the best methods of fluids replacement. Without the right kinds of fluids, your performance can deteriorate within 15 minutes of starting exercise. Should you be drinking water, sports drinks or creating your own solution?
- About the special nutrition supplements that will assist performance, muscle mass and exercise recovery
- The best time to eat pre-sport and post-sport meals and the right foods to choose
Glenn Cardwell has written an international sports nutrition manual called Gold Medal Nutrition, which is on the recommended reading list of the Australian Institute of Sport and is used as a text by Edith Cowan University and the University of Sydney. The fourth edition has been published in the US by Human Kinetics.
4. Five powerful tips to get your children to eat better
My child doesn't drink milk, eat vegetables or eat meat. My child doesn't eat enough. Can my child drink low-fat milk? These are all common concerns of parents. Glenn will provide some simple tips to get your children to eat better for life. Many of the tips will get you see food, and even your own eating habits, in a completely different light.
With three children of his own, five years experience at the Children's Hospital in Sydney and education tours with Dr Chris Green (author of Toddler Taming), Glenn knows a lot about feeding children, but not everything. He has spoken to parents and teachers at primary and high schools throughout Western Australia. His tips will make family meal times so much easier, now and forever.
